VASER Liposuction

VASER Liposuction, sometimes referred to as LipoSelection, uses targeted ultrasound technology designed to selectively remove fat and help reshape your body. The VASER Lipo procedure is powerful enough to tackle larger areas of fat, for example on the tummy, flanks or thighs, but VASER is also precise enough to work in delicate areas like the neck.

What is VASER Lipo?

VASER Liposuction uses ultrasound energy to melt fat before it is removed through a thin tube called a cannula. This technique makes the fat easier to remove and may be especially useful in areas with larger volumes or denser fat. It also results in a less-aggressive procedure, which may lead to faster recovery times. As with traditional liposuction, it's not intended to significantly reduce weight, but to address fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.

VASER is an acronym for Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance.  It is the 3rd and latest generation of ultrasound-assisted liposuction.  It is this ultrasound technology that allows for the precise breakdown of subcutaneous fat.

How does it work?

VASER liposuction is FDA approved to use sound waves to gently loosen fat and pave the way towards liposuction and smooth contouring of the body. Tumescent liquid, or a saline solution mixed with anesthetics, is injected into the body area being treated. Instead of using a cannula and manual movement to break down the fat tissue, or a laser, or water pressure, VASER liposuction uses ultrasound high frequency vibration to break fat cells apart.

The plastic surgeon uses VASER ultrasonic probes, inserted into the fatty tissue to gently break the fat cells down. The vibration gently disengages and loosens the fat cells and ultimately emulsifies the tumescent fluid that has been infused into the body area. Once the emulsification is in process, a small cannula is used to remove the liquid and the fat cells. Some of the local anesthetic remains in the tissue and that helps to reduce post-procedural pain.

VASER Lipo is considered gentler than the more traditional liposuction techniques and ultimately offers your plastic surgeon a great deal of control. In return, you get the smooth, contoured look for which you are seeking. Additionally, VASER liposuction is specifically designed to loosen fat but to protect and preserve other tissues and by using the saline solution there is typically less bleeding and bruising.

What areas of the body can be treated with VASER?

Areas on the body that are especially well suited to VASER liposuction include the thighs, knees, abdomen, love handles, arms, chest, chin and neck. The procedure is generally performed either in a hospital or in our on-site Certified Operating Room. VASER doesn’t require general anesthetic that reduces patient health risk and lowers the overall cost of the procedure. You can have IV sedation or general anesthesia – it just depends on the course of action you choose with your surgeon.

If your doctor uses VASER assisted liposuction, make sure you discuss the process and the entire procedure so you fully understand what will be happening on the day of your treatment.

Patient Reviews

My experience with Dr. Ben Tittle and his office staff was beyond anything I have ever experienced. I had a lesion on my cheek that needed to be removed, so I took advantage of the downtime (and anesthesia) and had some other work done simultaneously. I had my eyelids done (blethoplasty), filler for my lips, Sculptra for my face, and Vaser Lipo on my flanks (love handles) and abdomen.

Everything Dr. Tittle did was a tremendous success and I have a new sense of confidence. He is the best!
